Islamabad (June 12, 2017): The joint investigation team currently seized with investigation into Prime Minister’s family alleged money laundering has summoned former Interior Minister and PPP leader Rehman Malik to appear before it.
Sources said that JIT’s summon was delivered at Rehman Malik’s residence. They added that Malik’s spokesman Riaz Tori received the summon.
The team had asked Malik to appear before it on Tuesday. However, Malik could not appear before the tam for being abroad.
Sources close to Malik said that he would dashed back to Pakistan by cutting short his visit. They added that Malik had requested the JIT to give a new date for his appearance.
The JIT will asks questions about Sharif family’s alleged money laundering as Malik had investigated the issue in the past when he was a director of FIA.
It is to be mentioned here that the JIT has summoned the Prime Minister to appear before it on June 15. During today’s meeting, the team is preparing questionnaire for the Prime Minister.
Sources said that the JIT had acquired the transcript and recording of Prime Minister’s speech to the national and in the National Assembly. They added that the team was reviewing the speeches of the prime minister about his assets.
The sources said that the team would ask questions from the Prime Minister about the contradictions in his speeches. The JIT had already obtained declarations of assets of Prime Minister from Election Commission of Pakistan.
