Panamagate: SC gives time to PM’s children to submit reply by Monday

ISLAMABAD: The five-member larger bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali heard the petitions seeking disqualification of the prime minister over the Panama leaks.

The prime minister submitted his reply through his counsel in the court which expressing anger at the non-submission of the srplies by prime minister’s children later gave them till Monday to submit their replies. An angered court also said that would issue an order for the formation of the enquiry commission to probe Panama leaks today.

On Tuesday, the court had adjourned the hearing of identical petitions filed by PTI and other parties for constitution of Judicial Commission to probe the alleged involvement of Prime Minister and his family members in the Panama Leaks scandal till Nov 3.

A larger bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali had also directed all the parties to submit their written replies regarding the constitution of Judicial Commission.

The court had also the directed all the parties to submit their Terms of Reference (ToRs) over the formation of a commission to probe the Panama Papers leaks. The court had said that if the parties did not agree on concensus ToRs, the it would draft the ToRs itself.

The commission will report to the Supreme Court, the court had said while adjourning the hearing for today. It said that the commission will hold powers equal to the Supreme Court.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali had commented that the court had to save the country from unrest and crises, adding that the Panama Papers issue has affected the entire country.
