Pashtunabad Blast: Case Registered At CTD Police Station

QUETTA: First Information Report (FIR) of a bomb attack at a mosque in Pashtunabad area of the provincial capital has been registered at CTD police station, AbbTakk news reported on Saturday.

As per details, the case was registered on the complaint of Pashtunabad Police Station SHO against unknown suspects. The case was registered under the charges of murder, attempt to murder and anti-terrorist acts of PPO.

A day earlier, three persons including Imam died and 22 others injured during a blast at a mosque, Rehmannia Masjid in Pashtunabad area of the provincial capital.

According to reports reaching here, at least three persons embraced martyrdom and 22 others sustained injuries in result of a blast in a mosque just ahead of Friday prayers.

The martyred individual is said to be the Prayer Leader (Pesh Imam) of the mosque who is identified as Maulana Ataur Rehman.

However, the dead and the injured have been immediately shifted to a nearby hospital.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Quetta Abdul Razzaq Cheema confirmed the casualties and said that the attack was carried out through an improvised explosive device (IED). According to Cheema, the blast occurred before Friday prayers started.

There has been no claim of responsibility as yet.

The DIG said that out of 618 mosques, 100 have been provided with security. He added that 1,500 police officials have been posted across the city.

Provincial minister Mir Naseebullah visited the civil hospital and inquired the health of the injured and expressed satisfaction over the facilities of treatment being given to the injured.
