Peshawar: People of Peshawar on Friday took to streets on the call of opposition parties, Jamiat Ulmae Islam Fazal (JUI-F), ANP, PML-N, PPP and Jamat-e-Islami (JI) against the power outages in the city.
People of suburban areas situated at Warsak road and people from the constituency of Deputy Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly (KP) took part in the protest demonstrations.
The protests were also held at Mithra, Darmangaye, Shakaye, Machni where protestors chanted slogans against the provincial government and Peshawar Electric Supply Corporation (PESCO) over the unannounced load-shedding.
At the occasion, the protestors blocked Warsak Road at several locations by burning tyres while protesters said that electricity is provided only for two or three hours across the day adding that more than 20-hour load-shedding have made their lives hell.
Protesters said that the matter was not resolved despite the constituency belongs to Deputy Speaker KP when repeated complaints were filed.
“Droppage of voltage destroys their electricity items,” they said.
