Lahore (August 30, 2017): Justice Farrukh Irfan of Lahore High Court (LHC) recused himself from a full bench of the court hearing PPP nominee for NA-20 by-polls Faisal Mir’s petition against the rejection of objections to the nomination of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz by the election tribunal.
The judge, who was heading the bench, sent the petition to Chief Justice LHC for fixing before any other bench.
It is to be mentioned here LHC CJ had constituted a full bench to heard the petitions and the hearing was scheduled for today.
When the petition was came up for hearing, the judge heading the bench resuised himself from the bench on personal grounds.
In his petition, Mir submitted that the tribunal did not even ask the departments concerned about the objections he had d submitted against Begum Kulsoom on certain legal grounds.
He insisted that the tribunal should have asked the departments concerned about the points raised in his petition against the PML-N nominee before rejecting the same. He has pleaded the court to overturn the tribunal decision of rejecting his objections on the nomination papers of Nawaz.
It is to be mentioned here Begum Kulsoom Nawaz is PML-N candidate for NA-120 by-election where she is facing PTI’s Dr Yasmeen Rashid, PPP’s Mir and a number of independents and other parties candidates.
