Petition Filed At SC to Declare Sharif’s House As Sub-Jail

Lahore (July 23, 2018): A petition to declare house of ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar as sub-jail has been submitted in Supreme Court’s Lahore Registry on Monday.

The petition was filed by the chairman of Watan Party Barrister Zafarullah Khan in which, he stated that references against former PM are pending at accountability court.

Nawaz Sharif held office of PM for three times, therefore, his house can legally be declared as sub-jail, he added.

Federation, Punjab Chief Secretary, Home Secretary and Inspector General of the jail have been named in the petition.

Four Member Medial Board To Examine Nawaz Sharif Today

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is not being shifted to PIMS, a four-member medical board constituted by PIMS administration will carry out his medical checkup at the Adyala Jail today.

Nawaz Sharif reportedly fell ill at the Adyala Jail on Sunday. Sources said that Nawaz Sharif is facing multiple health issues as the former prime minister is suffering from heart, glyceride, cholesterol and diabetes.

Sources further informed that four-member medical board comprising cardiologist Dr Naeem Malik, Medical Specialist Dr. Shaji Siddiqui, neurologist Dr Sohail Tanvir and Dr Mashood will examine Nawaz Sharif today.

Earlier, Doctors at Adiala Jail have requested authorities to shift former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to hospital from Adyala Jail, citing his ill health.Meanwhile, the caretaker government in Punjab has received an application to transfer Nawaz Sharif to the hospital. Sources said that the final decision in this regard will be taken by the Interior Ministry.

On the other hand, caretaker Punjab chief minister Dr Hasan Askari Rizvi chaired a high level meeting to review application to shift ailing Nawaz Sharif to hospital. Urea nitrogen in Sharif’s blood had risen to a dangerous level, and he is suffering from excessive sweating and dehydration due to humidity in the prison. His heartbeat is also irregular, said sources.

Earlier On July 16, Maryam Nawaz and Nawaz Sharif were expected to be shifted to Sihala Rest House after former Punjab CM and PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif wrote a letter to caretaker Punjab government seeking better facilities for them at Adyala Jail.

Shehbaz had asked the authorities to ensure continuous provision of medicines and medical examination to Nawaz Sharif from his personal doctor.

Maryam Nawaz and Captain (r) Safdar, who were candidates for the forthcoming general elections were also disqualified from contesting elections for 10 years each.

The sentence and a fine of 8 million pounds, or $10.6 million, came almost a year after Supreme Court removed Sharif from office and less than five months after the court barred him from holding office for life.

Nawaz Sharif was convicted under section 9(a)(5) of the NAB ordinance.
