Lahore (July 12, 2017): Supreme Court was moved on Wednesday seeking disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
The petition filed in Supreme Court’s Lahore Registry, also sought confiscation of all moveable and immovable assets of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Mahmood Akhtar Naqvi while making Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Election Commission of Pakistan, NAB, Interior Ministry, Governor State Bank of Pakistan and others as respondents has pleaded the court to suspend the Prime Minister till the disposal of the case.
The petitioner has also requested the apex court to order NAB to re-open 13 cases against the Prime Minister and his family.
It is to be mentioned here that the joint investigation team (JIT) probing Sharif family’s offshore holdings has submitted a damning report against Prime Minister and his children.
Following the report, calls for Prime Minister to step down have grew and the government is under immense pressure from the opposition and other groups.
