Islamabad (September 25, 2017): A petition seeking to stop proceedings against ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar at Accountability Court was filed in Islamabad High Court here.
Seeking the court to suspend the proceedings at an accountability court on the NAB references filed against Nawaz Sharif and Ishaq Dar, petitioner Shahid Orakzai argues that the said references are aimed at weakening their integrity in the next general elections and to cause them [political] harm.
In addition, petitioner argues, that the time frame to dispose off these cases within six months is also political and electorally motivated.
Arguing that National Accountability Bureau Ordinance no more remains effective all across the country now and Sindh province has passed a law revoking it the petitioner asks the court to issue order to stay the proceedings against Nawaz Sharif and Ishar Dar at the Accountability Court over references filed by National Accountability Bureau.
