Petrol consumption increases by 480pc in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Petrol consumption increased by 480 percent during the last eight years due to decrease in petroleum prices, sources said.

Stocks of petrol were decreased from mandatory 20-day requirement to 13-day due to high consumption, the sources said and added that petrol consumption in 2008 was 125,000 tonnes per month, which is increased to 600,000 tonnes per month in 2016.

Shortage of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and vehicles in abundance were the major cause of increase in petrol consumption in the country.

While stocks of diesel and furnace oil were according with the standard of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
