Petroleum Prices Still Lower Than PPP’s Era: Finance Minister

Islamabad(May 02, 2018): Finance Minister Dr. Miftah Ismail has said that PML-N government has brought a huge change in the economic conditions of the country.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, he said had the opposition parties cooperated with the government the economic development of the country would have been much better for the common man.Referring to the criticism by Peoples Party leadership on the petroleum prices he said prices of petroleum products, even after the recent raise, are still lower than those during the PPP era.

It may be recalled that the govt on April 30, reshuffled the petroleum prices for the month of May  2018. The finance ministry had given approval increase of Rs 1.70 per litre in price of petrol, Rs 2.31 per liter high speed diesel, Rs 3.41 per litre superior kerosene oil (SKO) and Rs 3.55 per litre  increase in the price of light diesel oil (LDO).

Ogra cited soar in dollar prices caused to make increase in POL prices.

On April 27, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) had proposed to the government to increase up to 10.6 percent in the prices of various petroleum products for May 2018.

The regulator recommended an increase of Rs 3.22 per litre in price of petrol, Rs 5.02 per liter high speed diesel, Rs 6.97 per litre superior kerosene oil (SKO) and Rs 6.95 per litre  increase in the price of light diesel oil (LDO).

After the increase the new prices are as follow:

Petrol                                 87.70

High Speed Diesel           68.85

SKO                                      79.87

Light Diesel Oil                  68.85
