Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has principally approved construction of as many as 39 hospitals of international standards around the country while he also instructed that the hospitals should be completed in 18 months.
According to the PM spokesman the meeting in the chair of the premier was held to discuss overall health facilities around the country. The ministry of health briefed the PM over the available health facilities in the country.
Sources said that the PM himself oversees the project to construct hospitals in the country while the PM office and ministry of finance will bear the expenditures on the project. According to the spokesman three modern state of the art hospitals will be constructed in the capital and will be comprised of on 600 beds. On the other hand five hospitals will comprise of 500 beds while other 25 will comprise of 250 beds.
It is pertinent to mention here that in the construction of the hospitals backward areas of Gilgit, Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Interior Sindh, South Punjab, Baluchistan and KP will be preferred while a company will be establish, named Heath Care Infra structure Company to oversee the project.
