ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will chair an important meeting session on Monday (today) to discuss current financial affairs after reaching an agreement with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission for a bailout package.
The meeting will take place at PM House’s Auditorium with certain members of the federal cabinet, National Assembly and country’s economic team in attendance.
As per sources, the economic team headed by Dr Hafeez Sheikh will apprise the Prime Minister on details of the agreement between Pakistan and the visiting IMF Mission.
Sources said that the tax amnesty scheme issue will also come under discussion in the meeting.
On Sunday, finance advisor Dr Hafeez Sheikh announced that the country had reached an agreement with the IMF on a three-year bailout package.
Finance advisor, in an interview at the state TV, said Pakistan reached an agreement with IMF on a $ 6 billion bailout package.
“The bailout package will be given within 39 months time,” he added.
He said that Pakistan would also get an additional amount of two to three billion dollars from the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
“The Pakistani authorities and the IMF team have reached a staff-level agreement on economic policies that could be supported by a 39-month EFF for about US$6 billion, subject to approval by the Executive Board. IMF’s Ramirez Rigo”, announced IMF.
