PM Has Nothing to Do with Children Assets: Counsel

Islamabad (July 19, 2017): Prime Minister’s counsel Khawaja Harris on Wednesday told the three-member special implementation bench that the Prime Minister had nothing to do with the business of his children as he had separated himself in 1990 from family business.

Wrapping up his arguments before the full bench headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, the counsel said that the children of his client were independent in their business, assets and properties and prime minister had nothing to do with their assets and businesses.

The presiding judge said that the court would take a decision after looking at all the evidence.

He told the Prime Minister counsel to bring the money trail, which will end discussion on the documents.

Dar counsel while resuming his argument told the court that the JIT had attempted to drag his client into the matter.

The counsel told the court that the JIT had exceeded its mandate.  When the counsel raised many an objection on the JIT report Justice Azmat Saeed asked him to go to the trial court if he had a lot of objections.

He added that the confessional statement in Hudaibia Papers Mills was extracted under duress, which had no legal sanctity.

He added that the matter had been past and closed transaction and could not be reopened.

Justice Ejazul Ahsan said that if Dar had no role in Hill Metal then he needed not to be worry. The judge remarked that Nawaz Sharif also declared Hudaibia as past and closed transaction, adding that his client was not acquitted by court in the case.

Salman Akram Raja, counsel for Hussain and Hassan Nawaz, said that he wanted to submit records regarding the concerned companies.

He pleaded the court for grant of time, saying that record had been called from Dubai.

Upon this, Justice Ejazul Ahsan said that the parties record regarding seeking time was not good. He added earlier time was sought and Qatari letter was produced.

Later the court adjourned further hearing of the case till tomorrow.
