ISLAMABAD: An emergency session of the federal cabinet was underway under chair of Prime Minister Imran Khan here on Wednesday. The premier was briefed on the Joint Investigation Report (JIT) on Sahiwal shooting incident and the further steps made by the authorities.
Sources said that the Finance Minister Asad Umar has also briefed the PM Khan regarding recommendations for taxations and other decisions. Parliamentary parties will also be taken into confidence over mini-budget after its approval from the federal cabinet, sources added.
The federal government is likely to increase import taxation on luxurious products while reliefs were slotted to be announced for agriculture, industry and housing sectors.
On the other hand, the JIT report was presented before the Prime Minister Imran Khan while members provided briefing over the steps taken by the Punjab government.
Sources said that the report declared Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials responsible for the killings while the deceased family members were proved as innocent during the investigation.
According to report, the provincial government has tranferred three senior officers including CTD head while two officers were suspended. Cases will be filed against the CTD personnel involved in the Sahiwal incident while probe underway regarding other person named as Zeeshan.
PM Imran Khan summoned recommendations for reforms in Punjab Police and regulations to void such incidents in future.
