PM Imran Orders To Finalize LB System In 48 Hours

Islamabad (September 23, 2018): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday directed the concerned authorities to finalize local body system within 48 hours.    

According to the details, PM Imran Khan stressed on the importance of devolution of power during a meeting in Lahore. While chairing a meeting regarding a new local bodies system, drafted by the federal government, Prime Minister Imran said the government wants to truly empower citizens.“The most important agenda of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government is to delegate power to the local government,” the prime minister said.

The meeting was attended by Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shah Farman, and other senior party members.

During his visit, the premier also met Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, and Local Government Minister Aleem Khan.

The local government minister apprised PM Imran of the priority agendas of all departments for the 100-day plan. Khan also briefed the premier regarding a draft of the proposed new local government structure.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Imran Khan had congratulated Saudi King and Nation on its National Day.

The prime minister said progress and development of Saudi Arabia were very close to the heart of every Pakistani and its stability was linked with the strength of the Muslim Ummah.

“Saudi Arab has always stood with Pakistan in difficult times and the Pakistani government and its people highly acknowledge it”, a press release quoted the prime minister as saying.

Referring to his recently concluded visit to Saudi Arabia, the prime minister noted that it helped opened a new chapter of bilateral cooperation between the two countries which would benefit the whole region.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Asad Umar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhary, Adviser on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, and Pakistan’s Ambassador in KSA Hasham bin Siddique also attended the meeting.

The prime minister was received by King Salman at his Palace in Jeddah, where he was presented with a guard of honor and a state banquet was hosted for him and his entourage.

In the meeting, the two leaders discussed the bilateral relationship, the regional and global political situation and the issues confronting Muslim Ummah.

They expressed their desire to further enhance and diversify bilateral cooperation and to continue close coordination on issues of mutual interest.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia reaffirmed their historical and brotherly ties, rooted in bonds of common religion, shared culture and values and quest for regional and global peace and security. Both sides expressed satisfaction at the convergence of views on a host of regional and global issues, as well as the issues faced by Muslim Ummah.
