PM lays foundation of Metro Bus link to New Islamabad Airport

Islamabad (May 6, 2017):  Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday laid the stone of inagroundbreaking of Islamabad Metro bus link to New Islamabad Airport near Fateh Jang. 

According to the details, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday visited the new Islamabad International Airport here near Fateh Jang to observe the latest development and inaugurate the Metro bus link to the location.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by former KP Governor and senior PML-N leaders Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Abbasi and others.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister was briefed about the project. It was stated that the project would cost Rs18 billion and it includes construction of four interchanges and fourteen stopovers.

The Metro Bus link will connect new Islamabad Airport to Peshawar Morr.

The link will be completed by National Highway Authority in four Phases with a total length of 25.6 Km, 09 Bus stations, 12 bridges and 11 underpasses.

Talking to media after performing the groundbreaking, the Prime Minister said that there was a need to accelerate the pace of work on development projects.  He added that Islamabad was being connected with the News Islamabad Airport through the Metro Bus link.

He added that the metro bus project will be completed along with the Airport project.

He added that project was aimed at facilitating people travelling to Airport.

In addition, Sharif said that quality will not be compromised on for this project, explaining that “once it is complete, we will build roads that will benefit farmers and pave way for schools and colleges”.

Following the groundbreaking of the Bus project, the Prime Minister also inspected New Islamabad International Airport.

The PM was told that 95 percent work on Terminal Building has been completed with a capacity of 4,500 passengers at a time. State of the art fifteen aircraft docking stations are complete and an international standard air traffic control system is being installed.
