Islamabad (July 17, 2017): Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is chairing a high level meeting at Prime Minister House.
According to the details, an advisory meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, is under way at the PM House, said sources.
Key members of the federal cabinet, senior PML-N leaders, legal experts are present in the meeting.
Legal experts are briefing the attendees after the Supreme Court held the first hearing over the Joint Investigation Team (JIT). The reply submitted by the prime minister’s legal team is also being discussed, added sources.
Further course of action, after the opposition’s submitted their reply is also under discussion.
Earlier, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.Sources said that during the meeting the Prime Minister and NA Speaker discussed overall political situation of the country in the context of Panama Leaks and JIT report.They claimed that they also discussed any probability of reference against the Prime Minister and government strategy regarding it.
Earlier, the apex court held proceedings of the Panama Papers case following the submission of the JIT report on July 10.
The Sharif family and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had also earlier submitted their objections on the JIT report to the court.
The JIT, formed in light of the apex court’s April 20 judgment to probe the Sharif family’s money trail, submitted its 60-day investigation report to the court on July 10.The report highlighted the failure of the Sharif family to provide a money trail for its London apartments and claimed the prime minister and his children own assets beyond their known sources of income.
Following the report’s submission, the special bench issued notices to all parties to submit their responses.
