PM Abbasi, NS, Others Hail SC, PHC Extension to FATA

Islamabad (January 13, 2018): The access of supreme court and Peshawar high court to the people of the Federally Administrative Tribal Areas (FATA) has been acknowledged by the political leadership including Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, former PM Nawaz Sharif and others on Saturday.

The National Assembly Friday passed the Supreme Court and High Court Extension of Jurisdiction to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas Bill 2017 extending the jurisdiction of Supreme Court of Pakistan and Peshawar High Court to tribal areas.

Hailing the step former prime minister and ruling party PML-N president Nawaz Sharif said, in his message, that ML-N government has fulfilled all the promise including FATA reforms made during the previous election.

“PML-N has laid the foundation of the end of adversities and of the FATA people, thus I congratulate the political parties and people of tribal areas for the wake of provision of constitutional, legal and democratic rights era,” he said adding that his one of the most prior wish was to seem Pakistan from Karachi to Khyber prosperous, developed and safe.

“I don’t tolerate unjust done with the people of any region,” deposed PMs said.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi congratulating the FATA people said that the approval of bill from parliament was the first step towards was the advent of their prosperity and justice.

“I ensure the people of tribal areas will soon get rid off from the black laws of Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR) and they will be brought into main stream as it will assist making Pakistan more stronger,” PM mentioned.The state minister for information Maryam Aurangzeb commenting over the access of Supreme Court and Peshsawar High Court to tribal people said that FATA people inclusion in political and constitutional system will make sure protection of their rights.

The head of Awami National Party (ANP) Asfandyar Wali lauded the step and said that it was the first step towards merger of FATA with Khyber Pukhtunkhawa (KP) aimed to bring them to national main stream.He reminded that the people of tribal areas have paid heavy cost of Afghan war as they are being grilled under the black laws. He damned the FATA share in National Finance Commission (NFC) award.

The central information secretary of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Nafeesa Shah has claimed that PPP and other opposition parties helped to get pass the FATA bill from national assembly.“It is the mile stone and the first step to the merger of FATA with KP,” she said, in a statement, adding that bringing FATA into main stream was the vision of founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and if he had live the reforms would have done much earlier.

She said that Bilawal Bhutto has strong vow that he would stand with FATA people till its merger with KP.

On January 12, The National Assembly passed the Supreme Court and High Court Extension of Jurisdiction to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas Bill 2017

The Supreme Court and High Court [Extension of Jurisdiction to Federally Administered Tribal Areas] Bill, 2017 was officially not part of the agenda and was moved by the government to the utter surprise and consternation of one of its ally, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F).

On Thursday, the routine proceedings of the National Assembly were suspended to discuss at length the brutal killing of a minor girl in Kasur. However, after discussing the issue for a little while, the government moved the bill.
