Islamabad (July 4, 2017): Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that the national cricket team players were the real heroes as people and he himself wanted to shake hand with them.
He was addressing a reception in honour of national cricket team that won champions trophy defeating India at Oval in Islamabad this evening.

He urged all the world nations to come to Pakistan to encourage sports.
“Cricket team has heightened the country’s name and they proved that they are the real heroes of the nation,” PM Nawaz Sharif said while addressing to reception to the triumphant ICC Champions Trophy cricket team hosted by him.
He said, ” I was always hit six on bouncers delivered by any bowler because I don’t like bouncers,” he said.
PM, while calling memories, said that once his team was stopped to play by opponent team that has deeply hurt him even more than Panama case and JIT.
“Your are the real Prime Minister as I am is the PM only as post,” he said adding that he knew there were lack of grounds in the country, however government was trying to construct grounds on union council level.
Elaborating government development work PM said that the motorway network being constructed across the country and work on CPEC was at full swing.
“No need to request any country to come and play here in Pakistan as if any team come here with its own wish we will welcome them warmly,” he said pointing out international teams’ refusal to play in Pakistan.
“We are victorious of each field that shows present is our and future as well,” PM said.
He, however, said we will not beg for any foreign team to come to Pakistan to play cricket with us.
He said that the economy of the country has been turned around and a network of roads and highways is being constructed across the country.
PM said the government is making untiring efforts to complete power plants in the country at a fast track to cope with electricity shortage.
The Prime Minister said that with the prudent policies of the government and resolve of the nation, backbone of terrorists has been broken.
He said future is Pakistan’s sports and every nation is welcomed to come to Pakistan to play games, but we will not beg any favor from them.He said players are the real heroes and leaders of the country. He lauded the Pakistan cricket team for making the nation proud by winning the ICC Champions trophy.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Pakistan Super League Najam Sethi thanked the Prime Minister for his unflinching support to revive Pakistani cricket.
He said Pakistan is a resilient nation, who have defeated terrorism and sports is the best way to showcase this ability.
Chairman PCB Shehryar Khan announced that Sarfraz will also lead the test team of Pakistan.
He said victory in ICC champion’s trophy has united and rejoiced the entire nation.
At the end, the prime minister also gave away awards to the winning team members.
