Islamabad (October 02, 2018): Prime Minister Imran Khan while expressing grieve over Tharparkar’s situation directed federal health minister to visit the area.

He was talking to President of PTI Sindh Ameer Bhutto and Secretary General Haleem Adil Sheikh in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Prime Minister said that health-related issues in thar will be resolved, relief will be provided to them, he added. Federal Government will protect the rights of Sindh and Sindhi people, PM said.

Prime Minister showed his confidence in PTI’s Sindh leadership.Three More Children Die Of Malnutrition In Thar Earlier on September 30, three more children succumbed to malnutrition in Tharparkar.

The Sindh health department said the deaths took place at Civil Hospital, Mithhi with the deceased three infants.

The recent death of three children has taken the death toll in Tharparker to 50 for this month and 476 for this year.

According to the health department, every year 1,500 children die due to malnutrition, infections and lack of proper medical facilities in the remote region.

Earlier on September 28, Chief Secretary Sindh ordered Secretary Health to visit hospitals of Thar and report him.

Mumtaz Ali Shah took notice of the deaths of infants in Tharparkar due to malnutrition and ordered secretary health to present report immediately.

Earlier on September 23, three more infants died due to malnutrition in Tharpkar.

The latest deaths have taken the death toll in Tharparker to more than 450 for this year.

Earlier on September 16, the death toll of children dying of malnutrition in Tharparker region continued to climb as five more infants passed away.

According to the health department, every year 1,500 children die due to malnutrition, infections and lack of proper medical facilities in the remote region.

A report released by the United Nation’s Children Fund in April stated that Pakistan is among countries with the highest infant mortality rates, with 22 infants dying before turning one month old.Among these countries, eight are in Africa and two in Asia, including Afghanistan which is ranked third.

“Pakistan is the riskiest place to be born as measured by its newborn mortality rate,” the report stated. “A baby born in Pakistan is almost 50 times more likely to die during his or her first month than a baby born in Japan, Iceland and Singapore.”
