PM Praises Asad Umar, Reposes Confidence On Him

Islamabad (December 06, 2018): Prime Minister Imran Khan strongly defended his financial team and its role in bolstering the national economy despite serious challenges.

PM Imran Khan praised and particularly mentioned the role of the Ministries of Finance, Commerce and Planning in this regard during the meeting of federal cabinet.

He praised Finance Minister Asad Umar and reposes confidence in the performance of his economic team, resulting in interests and commitments of big foreign investors despite the massively tough circumstances this government inherited the country in.

He said had the economic situation been really bad, there would have been no foreign investment into the country.

He said the credit goes to the economic team for bringing in foreign investment into the country.Earlier on December 03, Prime Minister House refuted rumours of Finance Minister Asad Umar’s resignation.

“The reports on resignation about finance minister are not true. The Finance Minister has no intention to resign”

The minister is receiving severe backlash as the dollar became uncontrollable and rupee faced devaluation.

Apart from economic experts and opposition, the inner circle of the government is also not satisfied with Asad Umar’s performance.

Rumours were rife from Monday morning that the finance minister has resigned from his post following the criticism.

However; the PM House while putting an end to the claims termed them baseless and false.The minister has full support of the Prime Minister and will continue performing his duties despite of problems., added the source.

Later on December 05, Finance Minister Asad Umar also refuted the rumours of his resignation from the post.

Finance Minister Asad Umar said such rumours are a part of the “propaganda against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government”.

He also said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has asked him to continue his job.

It is pertinent to mention that the minister was receiving severe backlash as the dollar became uncontrollable and rupee faced devaluation.
