PM Stresses On Bilateral Trade Between Pakistan And Turkey

Ankara (January 04, 2019): Prime Minister Imran Khan said that it is time for Pakistan and Turkey to take their bilateral trade to new heights and his government was striving to provide a conducive atmosphere to foreign investors in Pakistan.

Addressing Turkish businessmen at a business forum in Ankara, he said Pakistan has an ideal geo-strategic location and huge potential for investment in infrastructure and tourism.  He stressed the need for promoting bilateral trade between Pakistan and Turkey.

“We will provide all facilities to foreign investors in Pakistan, we are making business easy for them,” Khan said.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan is fixing its governance system and bringing ease of doing business and cutting its costs.

He assured the Turkish investors that under redefined policies, the government would allow the investors to make money.

Picture Courtesy: Radio PakistanImran Khan said Pakistan is also embarking on a gigantic project to build five million housing units and Turkish construction companies are welcome to invest in it.

He said Special Economic Zones being developed with China under Belt and Road Initiative is another great opportunity to invest.

He said both countries should start working to benefit from the huge opportunities coming out of BRI as it would connect those parts of the world which have no or less connectivity.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan has also huge reserves of oil, gas, copper and coal which have not yet been explored.

Earlier on the day, the prime minister arrived in Turkey on a two-day visit on the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.The prime minister was accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Asad Umar, Federal Minister for Planning Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, Adviser to PM on Commerce, Textile, Industry and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood and Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua.

Khan will be given a reception by the Turkish president of Friday, followed by a one-on-one meeting between the two figures.

The Pakistan premier and President Erdogan are expected to discuss the Afghan peace process, bilateral relations as well as regional and international situation at the meeting.

The visit is set to help explore new avenues of cooperation and collaboration between the two states, particularly in areas of economic, trade and commercial relations.
