PM takes notice of English daily’s ‘baseless’ news report on national security institutions

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday chaired an important meeting regarding national security at Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad, which took notice of a baseless and concocted story about national security institution published an Eglish-language daily.

The meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif, DG ISI Lt. General Rizwan Akhtar and others.

The participants of the meeting expressed concerns over baseless and concocted news published in newspapers against the national security institutions.

The participants termed a new report of an English-langue daily against the international standards of reporting on national security issues. They opined that the news item was against the national interest and security.

According to Prime Minister House’s spokesman, the  Prime Minister took notice of the baseless news. He directed the concerned authorities to identify the responsible and punish them.

They participants urged media  to avoid speculative stories on national security and state affairs.
