Islamabad (October 22, 2017): Federal Minister for Privatisation and Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Daniyal Aziz has said their party believes in the supremacy of the constitution and the law.
While addressing a press conference, Daniyal Aziz said that PML-N always struggled for the supremacy and independence of the judiciary.
He said that accrued income is not defined as assets in the very dictionary used to define assets (Black’s Law dictionary).
Daniyal Aziz said Sharif family was inducted before decision on their review petition. Aziz insisted that receivables, if not received, cannot be classified as assets, contrary to what was decided in the July 28 ruling by the Supreme Court disqualifying former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from holding public office.
The Minister for Privatisation said the Panama Papers verdict would have an impact on Pakistan’s tax system and economy. “The court’s decision will have an impact on the entire tax system and economy,” he said.
Daniyal Aziz said Sharif family has filed a review petition against the Panama Papers case decision.
He said that the terms “asset” and “receivables” that were used in the Panama Papers case decision are not available in the Black’s Law Dictionary and this issue has been raised in the review petition through the counsel of the Sharif family.
