PML-N Protests Outside Punjab Assembly

Lahore (October 10, 2018): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPAs on Wednesday protested outside the Punjab Assembly against its failure to call a session over party president Shehbaz Sharif’s arrest.

Workers of the Pakistan Mulsim League-Nawaz are chanted slogans for the release of party President, Shehbaz Sharif, who was arrested by NAB in Ashiana Housing Scam.

The PML-N lawmakers also attempted to enter the Punjab Assembly premises by scaling walls but Punjab Government took action to fail protest of the opposition outside Punjab Assembly today.

The main gate of the provincial assembly was blocked off with barbed wires and contingents of police had been deployed following the PML-N’s announcement to stage a protest at the assembly’s stairs.Speaking on the occasion, PML-N leader said that the people who looted millions have become senior ministers in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government.

Hamza took a jibe at the Speaker Punjab Assembly by saying that after Nawaz Sharif and General (retd) Pervaiz Musharraf, Imran Khan has become his leader.

“The man who has become Speaker Punjab Assembly is a Bank of Punjab defaulter of Rs22 billion,” he said.

He added that there should be probe on offshore companies of PM Imran’s sister, Aleema Khan.

Earlier on October 9, the opposition leader in Punjab assembly and PML-N leader Hamza Shehbaz announced to set up a protest camp outside the Punjab assembly against the arrest of party chief Shehbaz Sharif.

He announced that the assembly session will be held on the stairs of the Punjab assembly in the chair of the former speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Muhammad Iqbal.

Hamza also directed the party members to make sure your presence on the occasion and set up camp outside the assembly building.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) announced that the parliamentarians of opposition parties will hold a protest outside the Parliament House on Thursday afternoon.

The call for the protest was given by former NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, saying the gathering will be held on Thursday, October 11 at 3 pm at Gate No. 1 of the Parliament House.

The next day, on October 6, a delegation of the opposition leaders comprising PML-N chairman and leader of the opposition in the Senate Raja Zafarul Haq, former NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl leader Abdul Ghafoor Haideri and PML-N lawmaker Rana Tanvir met the incumbent NA speaker at his residence and urged him to summon the session soon as they wish to raise the issue of Shahbaz’s arrest. According to the NA spokesperson, the Speaker is bound by the law to call a session within 14 days when a requisition is submitted and NA Speaker Asad Qaiser had assured the opposition a session would be called before then.

However, so far no date has been set for the NA session.

Ayaz Contacts Khursheed Shah

The former speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq contacted PPP senior leader Khursheed Shah and invited him to participate opposition protest outside the parliament.

The PPP leader, however, told him that the decision will be taken after party consultation.
