PML-N Will Oppose Electoral Bill over Party Head in NA: Saad

Islamabad (November 1, 2017): The senior PML-N leader and minister for Railways revealed that despite the electoral bill is passed from the senate, the ruling party will oppose the same bill in National Assembly.

The senate has passed the electoral Bill clearing the way for disqualified person to return party head as it also paved the way for disqualified Nawaz Sharif to become party president.

Talking to journalists after the PML-N parliamentary party meeting, Saad said the passage of bill of ending ban on disqualified person to become party head was aimed to eliminate dictatorship encroachments in constitution, however  party will oppose the bill in national assembly.“PML-N members will vote for not Nawaz Sharif’s president ship but for the supremacy of the democracy,” Saad said.

Replying to a question, he said following the passage of new delimitation bill from NA the risk of delay in next election has been removed.

He vowed that PML-N will take part in next election on the basis of its performance.

On September 22, the Senate passed the amended Election Bill 2017 amid a walkout by Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani. The passage of electoral bill 2017 has paved the way for the ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif to lead the party again that he had lost after his disqualification by the supreme court.

The article of 203 of the bill that clear the way for the disqualified person to lead the party was strongly opposed by the opposition.

Few days later PML-N had elected disqualified PM Nawaz Sharif unopposed its head.
