PM’s Aide Welcomes Statement of UN Chief on Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: Special Advisor to PM for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Friday welcomed the statement of UN Chief related to the scenario in India-held Kashmir post abolishment of Article 370.

United Nations chief Antonio Guterres expressed deep concern over the abolition of occupied Kashmir‘s special status with abrogation of the Article 370 and warned India to refrain from changing its legal status.

Secretary-General UN António Guterres gave a clear message to India that the solution to occupied Kashmir is possible through the UN Charter and Security Council resolutions.

Taking to Twitter, Dr Firdous wrote: “I welcome statement given by UN Secretary-General on Kashmir dispute. It accepts Pakistan’s long-standing position that Kashmir is a disputed territory and this dispute can only be solved according to UN resolutions. This is a diplomatic victory of Pakistan.”

She credited Prime Minister Imran Khan and PTI-led government for the way it voiced support for people of Kashmir which drew confidence of the International community including UN.
