Fawad Rebuffs Allegations In Ashiana Housing Scheme Case

Lahore (February 16, 2018): The Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Fawad Hassan Fawad on Friday rebuffed allegations leveled against him in Ashiana Housing Scheme case.

Narrating the internal story of the statement recorded by the principal secretary to the PM before NAB Lahore authorities, the sources said that the accountability team handed over a questionnaire of 10 questions to Fawad.

Fawad Hassan was unable to respond to the queries and rejected the allegations leveled against him.

The NAB asked if he had pressurized the Ashyana Iqbal project director to cancel the tender on which Fawad Hassan Fawad replied that he had not done anything of this sort and the allegations leveled against him are fake.

The sources in NAB said that the principal secretary to PM could be summoned again but the date is not yet decided.National Accountability Bureau on Wednesday summoned Fawad Hassan Fawad to appear before NAB on Thursday.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had launched inquiry against Fawad Hassan Fawad over allegations of corruption in December last year.

The NAB had initiated an inquiry against Fawad Hassan Fawad to probe the charges of corruption levelled against him in different complaints submitted with the bureau. Fawad Hassan Fawad is alleged of constructing a huge plaza valued at more than Rs12 billion at a commercial plot opposite to GPO in Sadar, Rawalpindi.Former NAB chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudry did not grant permission to start an inquiry against Fawad Hassan Fawad and Najam Sethi during his tenure. According to sources, a case is still pending with Islamabad High Court (IHC) against NAB over the allegations of not initiating an inquiry against Fawad.

Documents reveal that NAB has launched an inquiry against Fawad over the application of Khurram Qureshi, a resident of Islamabad. In his application, the complainant Khurram Qureshi alleged that Fawad and his brother Waqar have no source of income to justify assets of over Rs12 billion. He also accused that Fawad, in connivance with his brother Waqar, and persons named Gul Zareen from Belgium and Qamar Chaudhry, constructed a huge plaza opposite to GPO in Sadar, Rawalpindi.The land for the plaza was taken from Gul Zareen in exchange for certain promises and a residential plot at Haider Road, Rawalpindi.

After resuming office, NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal had directed the regional offices of the accountability watchdog to speed up the investigations against the corruption-accused individuals so that the embezzled money estimated to the tune of Rs900 billion could be recovered.
