PoL Prices Jacked-up, Notification Issued

ISLAMABAD:  The incumbent government has dropped another inflation bomb on the citizens of the country just before the Holy Month of Ramazan, as petrol prices have been jacked up.

A notification in this regard has been issued.

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) meeting on Friday approved to increase fuel prices for the month of May.

According to details, the ECC meeting chaired by Adviser on Finance Abdul Hafeez Shaikh has approved an increase in petrol price. The new price of petrol would become Rs108 per litre.

Sources further reveal that ECC has also approved to increase diesel price by Rs 4.89 per litre.

Earlier on Tuesday,  PM special assistant on information Firdous Ashiq Awan announced that the federal government has decided to temporarily withhold the announcement of an increase in petroleum prices.

Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the federal cabinet meeting discussed the hike in petroleum prices in detail while most of the minister objected the possible rise in the petroleum goods, whereas, few ministers supported the increase in the petroleum prices citing that all the burden could not bear by the government.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has sent the matter to Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).
