LAHORE: The prime minister and other prominent political leaders from all political parties have strongly condemned the explosion near the Wagah Border that left at least 59 dead.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed his grief over the loss of precious human lives. He condemned the blast and called for a report over the incident.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has also strongly condemned the incident.
Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali called the incident a “national tragedy”.
“It is very painful that such a large number of people have died or been injured…We have been saying for ages that the entire nation needs to openly stand against terrorism, said Pakistan Peoples Party PPP Information Secretary Qamar Zaman Kaira.
PTI senior leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi called it “a tragic incident”.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain also expressed grief over deaths in the suicide blast at Wagah border near Lahore.
Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar also denounced the attack and directed the IG Punjab and the DG Rangers to present inquiry report of the incident.
Meanwhile, Asif Ali Zardari, Dr Tahirul Qadri and Khursheed Shah denounced the terror attack at the Wagah border and declared it a coward act by the terrorists.
Former President, General (R) Pervez Musharraf, Chaudhry brothers and JI Ameer, Sirajul Haq also condemned the suicide attack on innocent citizens, who had gathered to enjoy the weekend by witnessing the flag lowering ceremony.
Moreover, Jamat ud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed, Hamid Raza, Sarwat Aijaz, Governor KP, Governor Gilgit-Baltistan and several others also condemned the attack, which claimed 59 lives including three personnel of the Punjab Rangers.
