Washington (October 5, 2017): United States Secretary of Defense James Mattis told Senate Armed Services Committee that political reconciliation is possible with Afghan Taliban.
He said US presence in the region is essential and added that the militants will have to leave the violence. Mattis told the Senate Armed Services Committee that US reviewed its Afghan policy and the President Donald had approved the new change. He said the new US policy will bring reconciliation, stability and durable peace in Afghanistan.
Mattis said they will also carried out development projects in Afghanistan.
