KARACHI: Elections on vacant seat of the deputy mayor of the metropolis are underway today (Thursday).
The seat was vacant when the previous deputy mayor Arshad Vohra joined Pak-Sarzameen Party (PSP) by waving goodbye to Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P).
He was disqualified later on when MQM-P pleaded the court for his disqualification.
The contest will take place between Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Karam Ullah Waqasi and MQM’s Arshad Hassan.
All the necessary arrangements have been finalized in this regard and strict security measures will be taken for the election.
The polling process for electing Karachi’s deputy Mayor was started at 9 am and will continue till 5 pm in KMC hall and at least 300 UC Chairmen will take part in the polling process.
