PPP rally sets out from Bilawal House for Karsaz

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) rally to pay tribute to party workers martyred in Karsaz blast of 2007, set out from Bilawal House today, which will culminate at Karsaz, the site of the 2007 blast, which claimed about 150 PPP workers.

Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who is leading the rally along with senior party leaders, addressed the rally at Bilawal Chowrangi.

Paying tributes to the martyrs of Karsaz blast, Bilawal said that Benazir had come back to Pakistan in 2007 to set the people free from poverty, joblessness and the chains of biradarism, ethnic and other biases and prejudices.

He said that Benazri was the hope of people of the country. The PPP Chairman said that the Octber 18, 2007 attack on Benazir’s welcoming rally was biggest terrorism incident which claimed some 177 lives.

“BB’s son is amongst you. I have brought change to Sindh, I am bringing change to the party and if you side with me, then we will also bring change to Pakistan,” he added. Together we will complete BB’s unfinished mission, he said.

“We will together bring freedom from terrorism, for Kashmiris, from poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, sectarianism, from the caretakers of religion — and bring freedom from ‘takht-i-Raiwind’.

On the occasion he enumerated the steps taken by the PPP government for poverty eradication and welfare of the people. He specially mentioned the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). He also acknowledged that the PPP might have committed some mistakes.

The PPP Chairman also criticized the PML-N government, saying that it disappointed the people of the country.

It it to be mentioned that more than about 150 people were killed in twin blasts on October 18, 2007, as the party held a rally to welcome former prime minister Benazir Bhutto to Pakistan.

Former prime ministers Yousaf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervez Ashraf, and Chief Minster Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, provincial mister Manzoor Wassan, Senator Sherry Rehman and other central leaders are accompaniying the party chairman on a speciall-designed truck.

A large number of PPP workers are participating in the rally, taken out two days prior to Oct 18.

The PPP rally has commenced from Bilawal House and will pass through Boat Basin, Mai Kolachi, ICI Chowk, Kakri Ground, Lea Market, Napier Road, Denso Hall, M.A. Jinnah Road, Numaish Chowrangi, Shahrah-i-Quaideen on its way to Karsaz.
