ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Sunday welcomed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan’s announcement to field candidate against PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari in the by-election.
It is to be mentioned here that PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari while addressing PPP workers on Benazir death anniversary in Garhi Khuda Bux on December 27 had announced that he and Bilawal would contest by-election to join the present Parliament.
On Sunday PTI chief announced that the party would field candidate against the PPP stalwarts.
PPP spokesman Senator Farhatullah Baber welcomed the announcement, saying that PPP believes in democracy and democratic traditions.
He added that taking part in election was everyone’s democratic right. He expressed the hope that the PTI would field candidates against Bilawal and Zardari.
The PPP spokesman took a jibe at PTI Chief saying that hopefully Imran would not take a U-turn this time like the past.
