PPP’s Abdul Bari Pitafi Wins By-polls in PS-7

Ghotki (March 05, 2018): Following the tough contest between PPP candidate Abdul Bari Pitafi and PML- Functional candidate Mian Abdul Malik Majan, the PPP candidate secured the by-polls of PS-7 Dharki seat on Monday.

According to details as per the unofficial and provincial results of all 164 polling stations the PPP candidate Abdul Bari declared successful after securing 47,300 votes while his rival candidate of PML-F Abdul Malik Majan got 36,924 votes.

Interestingly, in initial results PML-F candidate was going ahead with margin of 20000 votes however in later results Pitafi gain the momentum and rapidly leaving him behind touched the victory stand.

Earlier, the polling process in the constituency commenced at 8:00am and was continued till 5:00pm. After the polling, the process of counting is underway.

Seven candidates took part in the election. Tough competition is expected between Pakistan People’s Party’s Bari Khan Pitafi and Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) leader Main Abdul Malik Majan.

164 polling stations have been set up in the area amid strict security. As many as 103 polling stations were declared sensitive by the provincial administration.Expressing satisfaction over Pitafis’ victory, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto said that it was proved again, “Na Mir Jo Na Pir Jo Vote Benazir Jo”, not for Mirs, not for Peers but vote for only Benazir.

“The defeat of political orphanage is the victory of people as it is the reflection of decision what will the people of Sindh give in next general election,” he said adding that the winning process will continue not in Sindh but in entire country.

He lashed out opponents and said they should leave to dream of victory in Sindh as the PS-7 by-polls exposed their political weight.
