President launches Building Code of Pakistan: Fire Safety Provisions

ISLAMABAD: President Mamoon Hussain on Monday launched the Building Code of Pakistan: Fire Safety Provisions at a ceremony in Islamabad.

The code envisaging measures for protection of buildings from fires has been framed jointly by National Disaster Management Authority and Pakistan Engineering Council.

He was confident that the relevant departments will also pay attention to ensure protection of these facilities as well.

Mamnoon Hussain urged the relevant institutions to ensure implementation of the code and raise awareness amongst the people through the media about the utility of such laws.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Science and Technology Rana Tanveer Hussain appreciated the work put in by the experts of NDMA and Pakistan Engineering Council for the formulation of the code. He said this will go a long way in saving the people and buildings from the hazards of fire
