Islamabad (September 12, 2018): President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan in their separate messages on the advent of Muharram-ul-Haram have called for promoting unity and inter-faith harmony to help shape an ideal society under the teachings of Islam.
President said Muharram ul Haram was included among the four holiest months of Islamic calendar and it had been mentioned as a month of great respect and high reverence.
“This month reminds us about the sacrifices, patience, determination and holding of lofty human values, and especially forging of qualities like brotherhood, compassion and unity between the Ansars and Mohajirs after the migration of our Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). It formed a society which was perfect and based upon welfare of its subjects,” he added.
Prime Minister Imran Khan in his message has stressed the need of collectively working towards the progress and prosperity of the country, by leaving aside the petty regional, personal and racial hatreds as well as the reasonless prejudices.Earlier on September 07, Sindh government decided to ban pillion riding for three days as part of the security plan for the upcoming Muharram processions.
As per the notification issued by the provincial home department, the ban will last for three days from the eighth of Muharram-ul-Haram to the 10th across the province.
Apart from that, the use of loudspeakers and the public display of weapons is also prohibited without permission.
Furthermore, the notice also directed that hate speech, as well as offensive wall chalking, will also be barred under Section 144.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department, the first month in the Islamic calendar, Muharram-ul-Haram is expected to commence on September 12th, while the 10th of the month will fall on September 22nd.
