President Underlines Need of Promoting Harmony

Islamabad (August 14, 2018): President Mamnoon Hussain has underlined the need for promotion of harmony in the society to put the country on the path of progress as envisioned by the founding fathers.

Addressing the ceremony held at Jinnah Convention Centre to mark 71st Independence Day, Mamnoon Hussain said a strong, developed and a democratic Pakistan is our goal. He emphatically stated that this year the general elections coincided with the Independence Day.

This also envisages a message that the decisions in the country which was achieved through a democratic struggle will also be taken through the power of vote.

The president urged for awareness of youth and next generations about the sacrifices rendered by our ancestors for the freedom of motherland.

He said Pakistan is the hope and a blessing of Allah Almighty for the creation of which our forefathers gave unprecedented sacrifices.Mamnoon Hussain said to achieve the national objectives, we will have to rise above all sorts of differences and personal interests. He said the political leaders, intellectuals and the media will also have to play their role for promotion of unity and steer the country out of current challenges.

The national flag-hoisting ceremony held at Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad was attended by President Mamnoon Hussain, Caretaker Prime Minister Justice (retd) Nasir-ul-Mulk, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, and other foreign and local dignitaries were also in attendance

The nation is celebrating Independence Day with renewed resolve to work with the spirit of Pakistan Movement to make the country a true Islamic welfare state.

The day dawned with 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salute in the provincial headquarters. Prayers were offered for security and progress of Pakistan and well being of the people.

At 8:59 in the morning, sirens sounded and the moving traffic came to a halt as mark of national solidarity.

In their messages, president Mamnoon Hussain said that in order to rid the country of political, social, economic and other complex issues, the nation will have to rise above its personal and factional differences.

Caretaker Prime Minister Justice (Retd) Nasir-ul-Mulk has said that from an ideal geo-strategic location to the most talented and progressive youth, Pakistanis have all the ingredients to carve out their own destiny and rise as a successful nation of the world.Earlier, the day dawned with thirty-one gun salute in the Federal Capital and twenty-one gun salute in the provincial headquarters.

Change of guard ceremony was held at Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi on Tuesday morning.

Cadets of Pakistan Navy took charge of their duties at the Mazar.

Commandant Pakistan Naval Academy Commodore Waqar Muhammad was the chief guest at the ceremony.

The main flag-hoisting ceremony, in connection with Independence Day is being held at Hazoori Bagh.

Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister will likely to participate in the ceremony.

Similarly, a flag hoisting ceremony will take place at the Town Hall, Lahore.

Peshawar

In Peshawar, the day dawned with 21 gun-salute while special prayers were offered at mosques for country’s safety prosperity and development

The main function in connection with the Independence Day is being held at Civil Secretariat Peshawar.

Caretaker Chief Minister Dost Muhammad Khan will hoist the national flag.Meanwhile, a car rally arranged in connection with the Independence Day started from Peshawar today.

Meanwhile, Governor and Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in their messages on the occasion of Independence Day have asked the people to work for materializing dream of the founder of the nation for making the country an abode of peace, prosperity and stability for our future generation.

Quetta

In Quetta, the day was dawned with 21 gun-salute while special prayers were offered at mosques for country’s safety prosperity and development.

Preparations for celebrating Independence Day have also been finalized across Balochistan including provincial metropolis, Quetta.

The major ceremony is being held in Balochistan Assembly today, at nine in the morning during which the Caretaker Chief Minister Alauddin Marri will hoist the National Flag. Besides, national Anthem will also be played. Another ceremony will also be held at the Residency of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Ziarat in which Caretaker Chief Minister will hoist the national flag.
