Prime Accused in Safoora Carnage Saad Aziz Acquitted

Karachi (April 06, 2018): The session court established in Judicial Complex has acquitted the prime suspect and member of banned outfit of Safoora Goth bus bloodshed on Friday.

According to details, the hearing of the Safoora Goth tragedy case resumed in judicial complex established in jail. After the police failure to produced concrete evidence against the accused, session judge announcing Saad Aziz acquittal said that if there was no other case registered against the accused he should be set free.

A case of attempt to murder was registered against Saad Aziz for injuring a citizen by firing upon him.However, prime accused of Safoora Goth tragedy Saad Aziz and other co-accused have been death sentenced by military court.

On May 13, at least 45 people were murdered when gunmen boarded their bus in Safoora Goth and opened fire on them indiscriminately, leaving a pool of blood behind. The attack was apparently well-planned as the assailants, according to the investigators, also tried to film its execution.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) had announced in May the confirmation of the death sentences of five “hardcore terrorists” Tahir Minhas, Saad Aziz, Asadur Rehman, Mohammad Azhar Ishrat and Hafiz Nasir Ahmed by the military courts in a number of cases of terrorism, including the Safoora Goth carnage and Ms Mahmud’s murder.
