Prime Suspect in Azam Tariq Murder Case Indicted  

Islamabad (November 17, 2017): The prime accused in Maulana Azam Tariq murder case Sabtain Rizvi was indicted on Friday by an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad, however the accused pleaded not guilty.

According to details two witnesses have recorded their statement before the court, following the statements the ATC has indicted the prime accused Sabtain Rizvi.

The accused has refused to accept allegations and pleaded not guilty.

October 6, 2003, Maulana Azam Tariq, the then MNA, was gunned down along with three of his guards and a driver in the limits of Islamabad’s Golra police in 2003, while returning from his constituency, Jhang, to attend a National Assembly session.

On May 12, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had arrested a suspected murderer of former chief of the banned Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) Maulana Azam Tariq at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA).

FIA Islamabad Director Mazhar Kakakhel told Dawn that the suspect had been declared as a proclaimed offender in the high-profile murder case. He was taken into custody by the FIA staff after he approached the immigration counter to board a Manchester-bound Qatar Airways flight .
