PSL3, Match 5: Gladiators Gets First Victory Defeating Qalandars

Dubai (February 24, 2018): Finally Quetta Gladiators got the first victory by defeating Lahore Qalandars, who is still pointless after playing two matches, in their second match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018.

After flying start by Narine and Mcculum the Lahore Qalandars collapsed and set a modest target of 120 runs for Quetta Gladiators on Saturday in the fifth match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018.

Archer and Muhammad Nawaz ripped through Qalandars batting and they have never given an opportunity to bounce back.

Brendon McCullum and Sunil Narine opened the batting for the Qalandars.

Out for a duck in the opening game, McCullum was keen to make amends, going after the Gladiators bowlers early on.

Narine wasn’t to be left behind as his plundered Shane Watson for 24 runs in the third over.

The West Indian threw his bat at everything and paid the price in the 4th over when Rahat Ali had him caught. But after a brilliant start, the Qalandars, like they always do, lost their way a little; Fakhar Zaman departed.

Cameron Delport and Umar Akmal were dismissed in back-to-back overs as pressure, not for the first time, mounted on the Qalandars. left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz was superb as he gave away just four runs and picked up two important wickets in his four-over quota. Pick of the Quetta bowlers? You bet!

Confusion with Gulraiz Sadaf meant that Raza Hasan was run out as it went from bad to worse for the Qalandars.

Muhammad Nawaz brilliant stuff with only four runs in four over and grabbing two crucial wickets has put the Gladiators on driving seat. Right arm pacer Archer has also played vital role in restricting Qalandars by grabbing three wickets.

Both the teams are without a point in the tournament and therefore must be keen to bounce back.
