PTI to access SC for implementation on Asghar Khan case

Islamabad: (May 3, 2017) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) decided in a meeting that apex court would be approached for implementation of the verdict given by the supreme court in historic Asghar Khan case.

The PTI’s consultative meeting held under the chair of party chairman Imran Khan and reviewed the country’s ongoing political situation, Panama-gate issue, Dawn leaks and PM Nawaz Sharif’s secret meeting with Indian steel tycoon Sajan Jindal.

Meeting decided to approach apex court for implementation on the verdict given by the supreme court in Asghan Khan case.

The apex court had issued a landmark short verdict on October 19, 2012 ordering legal proceedings against former head of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) General (Retd) Asad Durrani and former army chief General (Retd) Aslam Baig. They had allegedly bankrolled politicians to stop the current ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) from winning the 1990 election. The case was filed 16 years ago by Air Marshal (Retd) Asghar Khan.

Meeting was also expressed concerns over the secret meeting of PM with Indian businessman Sajan Jindal.

Any attempts to shelves the Dawn leaks and Panama case would be resisted so that both cases could reach its logical end, meeting decided.

It also expressed resentment over the deepen gulf between state institutions and party would create the environment taking steps to halt the situation before becoming more worst.
