It added that the Prime Minister had got a campaign launched against the JIT by misusing his office and authority.

The petition further said that federal ministers, Prime Minister spokesman and his assigned leaders of the ruling party were continuously targeting the JIT and threatening its members.

The petition pleaded the court to restrain the Prime Minister and Dar from hindering the JIT investigation.

The PTI further urged the court to instruct all state institutions to ensure implementation of the judiciary’s verdict.

It is to be mentioned here that the joint investigation team (JIT) probing allegations of money laundering against the Sharif family has leveled serious allegations against the government accusing institutions and departments of tampering records, creating obstacles in the probe and even threatening members of the six-member team.

In a damning application filed with the apex court, the JIT had informed the Supreme Court about the various challenges they have been facing in concluding the investigation within the stipulated two-month timeframe.

The JIT had alleged Chairman Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Zafarul Haq Hijazi  was instrumental in closing the investigation of money laundering case launched against Chaudhry Sugar Mills Limited”, which is owned by the Sharif family, in 2016.
