PTI sit-in: PM may cancel Kyrgyzstan’s visit to attend SCO summit

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif may cancel his Nov 2’s scheduled visit to Kyrgyzstan to attend Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit to be held in the central Asian Republic due to the political crisis in the country amid the PTI’s lock-down of Islamabad.

Sources told Abb Takk TV that instead of Prime Minister, a senior minister may represent Pakistan in the summit.

The SCO Head of State Council’s two-day meeting is scheduled to be held from Nov 2 in Kyrgyzstan. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is to represent Pakistan in the Council’s meeting. However, due to the evolving political situation back in the country, the Prime Minister might skip the meeting and a senior minister is expected to represent Pakistan in the summit.

It is to be mentioned here that PTI has announced to shut down Islamabad from Nov 2 as part of its protest drive against the Prime Minister’s alleged corruption. The PTI is demanding the Prime Minister to step down and present himself for accountability, otherwise it would not allow the government to run the country anymore and would lock-down the capital from Nov 2.
