PTI To Form Small Cabinet in First Phase of Govt: Sources

Islamabad (August 06, 2018): The names of some of key members of expected ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have surfaced now. Chairman Imran Khan has already decided to form small federal cabinet in the first phase of government formation,

According to the sources, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan, PML-Q and Balochistan Awami Party will be given one federal ministry in the 15-20 members’ cabinet of Imran Khan.

Sources said that Asad Umar, Pervaiz Khattak, Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, Zartaj Gul, Dr Arif Alvi, Fawad Chaudhry, Shireen Mazari would be members of Imran Khan’s small cabinet, however, their portfolios would be announced later.

Sources further said that MQM-P will be given Ports and Shipping ministry at the initial level and its advisor will be inducted later.Tariq Basheer Cheema, the sources said, PTI’s coalition partner Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) likely federal minister.

On the other hand, Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, Dr Yasmeen Rashid, Aslam Iqbal, Sibtain Khan, Arif Abbasi will be PTI’s cabinet members in Punjab, while Raja Muhammad Basharat is strong candidate from PML-Q in the coalition government of two parties.

Earlier,Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership and MNAs-elect on Monday formally nominated Imran Khan as party candidate for the office of Prime Minister.

The PTI chief addressing the meeting recalled his struggles and achievements, including the 1992 World Cup victory, and is laying out future plans.

“My focus was not to become an MNA or a prime minister,” Imran was quoted as saying.

Imran Khan said that the issues over which the nation voted us into power need to be addressed on priority.PTI Chief quoted as saying, “The country is in an economic crisis and we need to steer it out of it.”

“We will approach overseas Pakistanis for repayment of debts,” he added.

Further, the PTI chief said, “I was given official protocol [while coming here today] — the country cannot be run like this.”

If we cannot bring change then we will suffer the same fate as MMA and ANP, he asserted, referring to the poor electoral show of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal and Awami National Party.

Imran also urged party leaders to “save the money of the nation so it can spent on public welfare.” He vowed, “I will take decisions based on merit and for the betterment of the people.”Number Game For PM Slot:

As per procedure, if a party has a clear majority or the magical number of 172 votes, it can easily elect the Leader of the House in the National Assembly.

The PTI emerged as the single largest party with 117 seats in the 2018 general elections but fell short of a clear majority in the 342-member house.According to the Constitution, if the PTI chief manages to secure 172 or more votes in the first round, the president is bound to call him to take the oath as the country’s next prime minister.

In case, he doesn’t get the required number, then there will be a second round of voting between the top two contestants for the slot. In this round, the winner will not need at least 172 votes but the contender who gets the majority of votes will be elected leader of the lower house.
