Islamabad (December 16, 2017) The top leadership of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) will meet on Saturday in the wake of the decision by Supreme Court of Pakistan regarding the disqualification case of Jahangir Tareen.
The PTI chairman will preside over the meeting which is expected to take place in afternoon at his Bani Gala residence.
The meeting will deliberate on whether or not to appeal the verdict disqualifying party’s secretary general.
On Friday, the Supreme Court announced its much-awaited verdict, rejecting plea to disqualify Imran Khan and declared PTI’s key party leader Jahangir Tareen disqualified on the petitions filed by PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi.
After the decision the PTI chief said he accepts the court decision on Tareen, but PTI would file for a review, insisting it was based on a technicality. He said that he was happy because he had been cleared by the court.
Following his disqualification, Tareen vowed to continue working for Naya Pakistan. In a statement on his Twitter account, he said, “I worked sincerely with all my strength for the betterment of the PTI and Pakistan. I am proud that all allegations of financial wrongdoing were thrown out. I will continue to stand tall and keep working for a Naya Pakistan.”
