LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly held an in-camera session, For the first time in the history, where the provincial assembly members were briefed on the Sahiwal tragedy and progress regarding ongoing investigation by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT).
However, opposition rejected the JIT outcome and raised various questions over the JIT report.
During the session, Speaker Pervaiz Elahi asked the provincial law minister Raja Basharat to share information with the house.
However, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar did not participate in the session.
Later, Punjab s Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Fazeel Asghar briefed members of the assembly on the tragic incident and also presented the documentary evidence of Zeeshan’s contacts with Terrorists.
“Slain Zeeshan has links with Adeel Group and the vehicle in his use, he bought from Adeel, who is the owner of the vehicle at the time of sale,” he told the assembly.
Meanwhile, the opposition members strongly rejected the JIT’s report and the government’s stance on the matter and demanded the formation of a judicial commission to probe the matter transparently.
The Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz and other opposition members termed the JIT ‘wastage of time’.
Moreover, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders said that a first information report (FIR) should be lodged against CM Buzdar.
