LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar approved resignation tendered by former senior minister for local bodies Abdul Aleem Khan on Saturday.
A notification was released in this regards for acceptance of Khan’s resignation while Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat was given additional charge of the vacant post.
Aleem Khan is currently under custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) over charges of possessing offshore companies and assets beyond income. He was handed eight-day remand by an accountability court in Lahore to the anti-corruption watchdog.
It was emerged earlier that Aleem Khan had established many offshore companies in United Arab Emirates (UAE) and United Kingdom (UK) during 2005 and 2006 while around Rs900 million crore were transacted the offshore companies named as FZC and ANA.
NAB spokesperson revealed that Aleem Khan had purchased 900 canal land in account of his Lahore-based company A&A Private Limited but released payment of only 600 canal.
Aleem Khan had been arrested by the anti-graft watchdog on February 6 while later he tendered his resignation as senior minister for local government and community development in Punjab. He was presented to the accountability again after completion of remand on February 15.
