Punjab CM Chairs Cabinet Meeting, Approves 40-Point Agenda

LAHORE: A major development was made regarding police reforms as the provincial cabinet approved plan for bringing Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Bill 2019 besides formation of district-level reconciliation committee through a police order.

The series of approvals was made during provincial cabinet meeting held under chair of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Friday to discuss 40-point agenda.

Punjab government decided to expand Safe City Project to various other major cities of the province. A project regarding construction of low-cost houses in Renala Khurd, Lodhran and Chishtian under Prime Minister’s Naya Pakistan Housing Programme was also approved by the provincial cabinet.

Institute of Punjab Health Lahore will be made administratively and economically independent while Fort Munro Development Authority (FMDA) was renamed with Koh-e-Suleman Development Authority. It was also decided for establishment of new check post of Border Military Police in a tribal area, Sakar, of Dera Ghazi Khan.

The cabinet meeting agreed to maintain strategies to make institutions and community independent. A project was also approved to eliminate child labour across the province.

The government will bring Provincial Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill citing reforms in traffic management. The cabinet approved to consider recommendations for 720MW Karot hydro power project.

During the cabinet meeting, CM Buzdar said that the provincial government will defend interests of farmers. Praising Aleem Khan’s step, he said that the politician exhibited high moral values by tendering resignation. He praised political and public services of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) minister Aleem Khan.

The Chief Minister said that the PTI government completely believed in supremacy of law and Aleem Khan has proved it through his resignation.
