LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to bring changes in jails of the province and for the purpose it has asked recommendation from officials concerned.
The Punjab government firmly has taken decision to bring reforms in 41 jails of the province.
The provincial government has directed to home ministry to prepare prisoners for positive role in the society after their release.
Under the reforms the government has increased number of technical courses from one to 10 to educate illiterate prisoners while numbers of PCOs will also be increased for prisoners to contact family members.
Besides that the government will also improve conditions of jail hospitals while it also has reform package to bring improvement in jail infrastructure.
As per the home department, training program will be conducted for prisoners with the help of Non Governmental Organizations (NGO). In this connection the home department has hold two meetings with donating agencies. Along with this recommendations will be tabulated to allocate funds in next budget to improve infrastructure.
